The Fresno State Women̢۪s volleyball team lost another close match on Saturday, this time to Idaho in five sets. It was the first time that the Bulldogs had taken the Vandals to five sets since 2006.
In the first set, the action was back and forth until Idaho took a 17-14 lead. The ̢۪Dogs got kills from Cecilia Agraz and Baylee Platt that put the ̢۪Dogs up 21-20. The ̢۪Dogs would go on to take the first set. Idaho led the ̢۪Dogs the whole time in set two, going up by as many as 10 points. With the score 10-7 Idaho reeled off six straight points to win the set.
The Bulldogs battled back in the third set. Being up by small margins, a kill by Taylor Horton put the Bulldogs up 21-20 as they took the third set 25-22. The third set win put them up 2-1 in the match.
After a fourth set win by the Vandals, it all came down to the fifth set. Fresno State had an early 8-6 lead, but the Vandals took the set 15-10 to take the match.
Allanah Munson led Fresno State with a double-double, racking up 24 assists and 12 digs in the match. Brianna Clarke and Lauren Berger had 13 kills each. The loss drops the Bulldogs to 8-7 and 1-2 in the Western Athletic Conference. Fresno State now returns home to take on the Aggies of Utah State on Oct. 8.
