The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) announced on Aug. 12 that the 2007-08 Fresno State women̢۪s basketball team must vacate 29 games and both the WAC regular season and tournament titles after using an ineligible player.
Bulldog guard, Emma Andrews, was ruled as an ineligible player after she played with a professional team in her native Australia in 2005 and 2006. Andrews played sparingly for the Dandenong Rangers.
All games in the 2007-08 season will now be marked with by an asterisk that indicates it has be vacated. While the games will essentially be forfeited, coaching records, team records or individual stats will be vacated.
Andrews started in 28 of 29 games in the 2007-08 season, as well as all three games in the WAC Tournament.
Officially, the Bulldogs will only have the one game on the records for the season, a first-round loss to the Baylor Bears in the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA game was the first in program history.
It was discovered that Andrews was ineligible in spring of 2008 and sat out for the entire 2008-09 season, as regulated by the NCAA.
The WAC̢۪s ruling after the Bulldogs completed the 2008-09 season and are in preparations for the 2009-10 season.
