The one thing that seems to be on everyone̢۪s mind is Apple.
From iPods to Macbooks to iPhones, these tools have become the latest craze among college students.
Chart topping hip-hop group, the Black Eyed Peas believe “This is the Generation Now.â€Â
And generation now has spoken — once you go Mac, you never go back.
History major Val-Piere Dai’Re said he loves his iPhone. “After having it, I can’t live without it. It makes life so much easier.â€Â
Dai̢۪Re has been an iPhone user for five months and finds that it is convenient when it comes to his school work.
“Sometimes my house doesn’t get Internet connection, so I use my iPhone to do research,â€Â Dai’Re said.
Senior Carolyn Harris shares the same love, but for her Mac computer.
“I started using Mac’s at work and just knew that the next computer I bought would be a Mac,â€Â Harris said. “It’s so user friendly, simple and they look great. I will forever be a Mac.â€Â
The Kennel Bookstore recognizes the desire for Apple technology and offers students, faculty and staff the chance to purchase their favorite Apple products on campus.
“I think it’s safe to say that Apples are student oriented with all the software and features available,â€Â said Kennel Bookstores Computer Department Representative Mike Underdown.
Mac computers start off as high end computers. Unlike Dell computers, Underdown said, you don̢۪t have to customize because it already comes with everything.
Mac computers are equipped with a built-in camera and microphone. Users can edit and store photos, compose music with software called iGarage Band, make movies, and browse the web with Wi-Fi.
Self-proclaimed ‘super Mac nerd’ Underdown said that Apple software will take time to learn but consumers will be glad they made the switch.
Now through Sept. 8, with the purchase of a Mac computer, the Kennel Bookstore is throwing in a free iPod Touch after mail-in rebate, a $229 value and a free printer while supplies last.
According to Underdown, the Kennel Bookstore will discount other Apple products, such as the iPod, randomly throughout the year and have available software at a possible discounted rate more than the corporate Apple store.
With all that the features iPod Touch has to offer at the tips of your fingers, the device appeals to multi-tasking students.
According to Apple.com the iPod Touch allows you to email your classmates, download hundreds of educational applications and enjoy thousands of podcast lectures and videos from iTunes U.
In addition, Wi-Fi Internet connection is available any place an iPod Touch gets a signal. Users can connect to popular social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook and even update their “tweetsâ€Â on Twitter.
“It is instant access to a GPS, no matter where I am or how far I have to go, I can rely on it,â€Â Dai’Re said about his favorite feature on his iPhone.
