Former Fresno State quarterback and Super Bowl champion Trent Dilfer will be honored on campus during homecoming week in October.
Dilfer will be the highlight of the Top Dog Alumni Gala at the Save Mart Center on Friday, Oct. 16, the night before the Bulldogs take on the San Jose State Spartans in the homecoming game.
Tickets are $100 for the event.
Dilfer spent three years as the starting quarterback for the Bulldogs in the early 1990̢۪s under head coach Jim Sweeny. In his time at Fresno State, the Bulldogs shared the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Title twice and once shared the Big West Conference Title.
Dilfer also led the Bulldogs to two bowl games, including a victory over USC in the 1992 Freedom Bowl.
Dilfer left Fresno State after his junior season to enter the NFL Draft. He was selected sixth overall by Tampa Bay. Dilfer would eventually play for five different NFL teams, most notably playing the 2000 season with the Ravens, winning the Super Bowl.
Dilfer is now an NFL analyst on ESPN and is working with TD4HIM, a charity he founded after the death of his son.
