PEDRO JOKE • Apr 21, 2009 at 9:46 pm
I love how students, especially dw and the pedro jokes keep using buzz words like corruption and scandal to make some sort of case. Has everybody forgotten that Tom is married to Annie, which means that all of the money and equipment that she stole from ASI, from STUDENTS is in his house too? THATS WHY SHE GOT FIRED!
Check the facts, ask Pedro about that. She got caught, fired, and tried to call foul. Then they went through and found some errors on behalf of the execs, nothing like stealing $3,000 worth of money through carwashes, gas, shipment, etc. Even a getaway with Tom!
Then Tom and Annie cried to the media, before state had a chance to through anonymous emails from “CSUFinvestigation” and even stalked ASI employees to try to get them to go along with their story. The only part that worked was the gullible media and it was one day worth of news for the real news. And he convinced Walter and the slow guy to start up a petition because he could not be on campus because of his stalking. Check the university police records.
That’s why the collegian did not endorse him, and that’s why hes manipuated a bunch of other inexperienced students to go along with his plan.

Just proves there’s nothing new under the sun.
Same charges and counter charges that get made every election. Reminds me of the time a group of students took over the ASI offices for several days and had to be arrested, because of the corruption within ASI.

The current administration in ASI is made up of friends, friends and more friends. They were brought in by their friends, (Russel, JUan Pablo, Mackee, Gram), and want to keep it that way. They don’t want outsiders or anyone that isn’t a friend of theirs – working with them in ASI.
Check out their facebooks and myspaces. They fire people, students, etc., that don’t fit in with their plans.

oh and CONCERNED STUDENT, what do you mean by saying that the running candidates have not taken steps on a volunteer scale? is it crucial to have a candidate have ASI volunteer experience or is there some special lock and key of volunteerism that everyone must have to enter as an ASI office?
Please elaborate on your “volunteerism” and “experience” comments.

I actually want to make something aware for all those who post and read here,
why does it seem there is a tendency to keep the current ASI candidates in power, and look down on that PEDRO party only?
What about other cadnidates? i hear no body talk about them, politics are dirty anyhow? PEDRO actually seems to hold some potential power which will change the status quo, and it seems as there is fear in that.

…wow, well I posted this elsewhere but as I read I believe it applies!
My worry is how easily students are swayed when students that are not even on any student committees for ASI say “scandal, outrage, dirty politics” but haven’t taken steps on a volunteer scale to see or test if those ideas are true. These uninvolved students come off to me as the kind of people who are quick to speak and judge but might find it just as hard to hold their own. What’s even more bazaar is how much the current ASI is made of volunteers and people who worked around the clock when the people elected by vote last year failed them, and we ridicule them. How absurd, why are we bashing those people? Scandal, scandal, scandal. That̢۪s what all the new candidates for office chant about this year̢۪s ASI. We as Students must be gullible, we knew the integrity of the students put in office before they got elected, and then we blame them for being themselves.
Look out FSU, it’s a new crew in the form of PEDRO…more twisted truth and questionable integrity. And students actually take lies and unintelligent arguments from them at face value without doing their own research.
When will we as humans realize we do not get the government we desire, but the one we deserve? We deserve it by our own critical thinking and lack of insight, and by the way we vote.

HEY RICK !! about your comment:
“And finally to spoil your fun PEDRO, applying for grants requires having plans, of which, you have none. What would you be applying for????”
There are many grants out there such as the tobacco grants that any non-profit (hint hint ASI) can apply for, it just needs the support of the ASI government. Which from what i know has been asked of the ASI government by anti tobacco groups. Alot of money is there BUT, according to some pocketed senators (hint hint from school of AG) they dont want to jeapordize scholarships they receive from Pro tobacco groups for their school because it would require that the university not recieve any pro tobacco money. go ahead and marinate on that.

Aren’t you forgetting about what makes CSUF run? Students! If the students want more time in SM Parking lot – they should get it.
Student’s pay the staff, faculty, etc. salaries. They should have a say.
How stupid is it to think that anyone, Welty, CSSA, the Chancellor will listen to a student when they say “don’t raise our fees”. That has been the same agenda for many of the ASI candidates, and frankly, PEDRO is a breath of fresh air.
Everyone of the ASI Presidents past, and current, think they can go ‘tell’ the CSU system NOT to raise fees. They do it anyway. That is stupid thinking.
Have either of you, Insightful or Rick, been to other campuses? There are some amazing and very innovative things being built, tried and accomplished. Much more than your little mind can comprehend obviously.

First of all, the Save Mart Center parking is for the Save Mart Center events. We cannot take away from the actual function of it. This is why we need a parking structure.
Second, building a walk way across Barstow is necessary why, when the new parking structure is going to be located on the campus and there will not be need to cross Barstow.
Third, how is recycling a new idea??? Get real!!!
And finally to spoil your fun PEDRO, applying for grants requires having plans, of which, you have none. What would you be applying for????

If you haven’t seen PEDRO campaign then you are doing all of your bashing from afar, and ignorantly as well.
PEDRO has reached out to every college office, dean and senator on campus.
They have a lot of new ideas; put your money where your mouth is and look over their agenda.
Many of them come from student body government backgrounds, and have a great deal of knowledge about ASI and campus government in particular. YOU don’t know what you are talking about.
Take a pole and see how many new ASI office holders know anything about the technical infra works of ASI. NONE! They got elected, had to train – learn the ropes, just like any new person on a job.
Lauren, Gram, all of them, still consult with previous ASI execs and staff – and are continually learning and training, trying to figure out how it works.
You can’t tell me that with ALL THE TURNOVER in ASI this year that every new person coming on board knows EXACTLY what to do.
Many of these candidates have been part of clubs and organizations on campus too and have that direct knowledge of what ASI will/won’t do for them as well.
Get real Rick. You don’t know what you are talking about.

PEDRO does not have any new ideas. We’ve never even seen these students campaign. The fact is that all these students on the PEDRO slate are just trying to get into office by having all of their friends vote them in. They have no technical knowledge of how ASI works. The PEDRO slate is a “joke”.
Tom is getting desperate. He’s asking Jaz to support him and join him on his slate.
Tom, maybe Jaz will let you carry his stuff when he becomes the president. HAHA

I see that everyone is worried about Tom and the case in court. As mentioned, before what happened Toms wife found a need less and corrupt officials , using ASI money aka student money for their own personal enjoyment. I would have done the same, and if i got fired i would sue because its wrong to be terminated for a political reasons. We live in america a democracy, and students need to come out and support the best candidate(s) with the passion and knowledge. Plus if Tom can take on ASI he can probably use the same to go after the Administration.
Plus think about the members of the P.E.D.R.O Party, we need these individuals in, the represent a new face of students, with new ideas.

The University filed a motion to send it to arbitration. Last thing I saw was a tentative ruling denying the motion, so it’s very possible the case is over at the 5th District Court of Appeals. If it is, the Superior Court case is on hold.

Well, it’s clear to me Tom is campaigning solely on lies. ASI has been forthcoming with documents, even with the Collegian…that’s probably why the Collegian endorsed Jessica Sweeten and Lauren Johnson…
Also, in regards to the reformat of meetings Tom discussed…. So Tom wants to break the Gloria Romero Act that all student governments must adhere to (and in effect breaking the law). Sounds like it’s pretty obvious he’s inexperienced because he has no idea that there are actually rules to the way things are currently done.
Also, that whole removal from office policy he claims was changed? Yet another lie he’s telling all of his supporters.
And TOM…please elaborate on this lawsuit! I saw it on the Fresno County Superior Court website too. So, how was your wife’s lawsuit for so much money from ASI going to benefit students and their programs? You’re a hypocrite, trying to stiffen out student money…at least that’s what your wife is trying to do…but we don’t really know. No transparency there, Tom, eh?
Tom, you’re a piece of “work.” If you’re elected, I fear for all students of this university. You’re a threat to humanity.
P.S. How many times has Tom been escorted out of the ASI office by police now?

Why is it never brought up that Tom’s 40+ year old wife sued ASI? Tom, are you running on the platform of an elaborate scheme to sue ASI again and take the students money? Why did your wife sue ASI? What did the STUDENTS do to deserve a law suit? I guess she (and also you because you are her legal other half) were just going after the student’s deep pockets. How about you show some accountability? Why did your wife sue ASI, and whatever happened with that case? What was the outcome? I see that it never went to court on the Fresno County Superior Court docket, so what happened. SHOW US SOME TRANSPARENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY. What happened? This isn’t a very good start to someone claiming they want to fight corruption… Tell the STUDENTS why your wife sued, unless of course she was the wrong doer and you are too embarrassed. TELL US!

TELL US!
