High interest in enrolling at California State University, Fresno, but too little funding from the state has prompted university officials to move up the application deadline for transfer students to Feb. 15, 2009.
All upper-division students at other colleges and lower-division students in nursing and engineering who wish to transfer to Fresno State in fall 2009, must submit applications online by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15. That is six weeks before the original April 1 date.
“Due to the state’s fiscal crisis, Fresno State has limited space for new students for the fall semester,â€Â said Bernie Vinovrski, associate vice president for enrollment. “Managing enrollment is critically important these days because the California State University system and Fresno State will not receive enough state funding to accommodate all students who are qualified to attend.â€Â
Upper-division transfers are students who have completed a minimum of 60 transferable semester units with a minimum grade point average of 2.0 and have completed the General Education-Breadth requirements in English composition, oral communication, critical thinking and quantitative reasoning (math).
The university still is accepting fall 2009 applications from returning students who previously attended Fresno State and from graduate applicants. The application deadline for these students remains April 1.
