Many in the Fresno State community have expressed disappointment about the bulldog football team’s performance this year. Do you think head coach Pat Hill should resign or be replace?

We’ll miss you Pat Hill. But you need to go!!! This program has gone nowhere for the past 6 years.
0-6 vs Boise
2-4 vs Hawaii
2-4 vs Nevada
C’MON MAN!!!!
Clean the house! Replace all the coaches!!
RoderickP • Nov 21, 2010 at 7:19 am
yes….its time for Pat to move on. He has been in our program long enough to have produced a WAC chanpionship. With the facilities of Fresno State we should be of the same caliber of a team like Boise, but year after year Hill provides excuses for the teams failures to win the WAC. He obvviously has had the talent in coaching staff, but can hold on to them……and lets stop bearting up the team in the beginning of the season and settle down to a bit easier schedule simular to Boise.

I’ll throw $50.00 at Welty & Hill if they leave together on a jet plane and never come back again. It’s a package deal though. I’m indifferent about sports & HIll for the most part … I just don’t like emotional naysayers — thanks go out to the more resonable satire & comments of late.
If Hill can drag Welty with him (not likely), I’ll throw $50.00 at them on their way out.
FYI: Welty’s 3-year review is up (came across the BB listserv) … so send a message to the CSU Chancellor’s office (sometime soon) to be ignored 🙂

a good replacement for Pat Hill would be Chuck Long, good young coach who has a major upside

Of course he should be dismissed, I follow the WAC very closely and am an avid Boise State Bronco Fan. Pat Hill reminds me of Herman Edwards in many ways, great public speaker with no substance and all style. Bottom line his decisions on the field, whether it be clock management, play calling, etc… are poor, he is a poor recruiter, (all I see on his teams are junior college thugs who have no disicipline and are not football players) Every year Pat Hill loses 2 to 3 games where they are heavy heavy favorites, (this year Hawaii, last year Utah State) enough is enough with this guy, anytime anywhere philosophy is good for the papers, but astute football people like myself know its just a blow hard trying to make a name for himself.

All this balking over pointing out something good Pat Hill’s done. Fine. I don’t care about sports. Let him go. We’ll get another (more expensive) 6-figure salary coach in attempt to ramp up our program. That doesn’t change one bit that this is still just Fresno (not Sparta, not USC, or any other major Football program). We have our good seaons & our bad seasons. I’ll reiterate what I said before: When things don’t go your way (the way the fans want it to go), you just want to find someone to blame, and he’s the most public figure. What if it is a problem with talent recruitment, or the line coaches? Let’s cut his head off anyway. Unless you’re inside the program and know for sure … you probably shouldn’t speak. I’m not inside. I’m for Pat Hill. I’d enjoy seeing Pat Hill leave for a team which competes with CSUF on a regular basis, only to see CSUF get stomped by his new team. Any of you naysayers think you can do better — then do it. Else, just like the people who have raped our economy for short-term gains and profits rather than long-term stability, get rid of Pat Hill & pray the grass is greener on the other side. As a mentor of mine said: If you can’t stand the ups-and-downs, then you shouldn’t play in the stock market. People who are so passionate as to get their feelings wrapped-up in crap like this to the point of looking for extreme action to fix something (which commonly causes more things to go wrong if implemented) … disgust me.

Oh my God, is this an answer to prayer or what?
University of Washington I want you to know, he is the best and most professional coach you could ever get……please take him—-sooner rather than later.
Just to think I don̢۪t have to watch him lick his egg stained Fu Manchu ever again or wear that disgusting sweat stained bulldog cap on the sidelines in representation of our school and our community.
The only thing that Pat Hill does well on the side lines is go tri-polar on the refs. Is he not the ultimate definition of “class”?
He’s not head coach material, well not for the WAC, but I think he’s perfect for the Pac 10….lol. He could get those Pac 10 teams in the phone booth and kick the shit out of them; “Anyone, Anyplace, Anytime”. “Just shut up and hit somebody.”
I’m going to mark this day down on my calendar; Christmas may have come early.
Also, if he goes to Washington he can finally get paid what he’s really worth! He is worth so much more than $1,200,000.00/year plus hidden perks! What a steal! And to think he looses on a regular basis to coaches making a fraction of his salary. What is the matter with the other schools? Why don’t they pay as much as Fresno State? Plain old disrespectful to beat us so badly with such underpaid coaches!
WE might even give UW a package deal… two for one; Pat Hill and Bid Daddy Welty for one REAL coach.
In fact my friend John A. is on the phone right now telling me that he’s willing to throw in $50.00 for a hair cut for Welty and a shave for Hill, just to seal the deal; is that nice or what?
We have a possible Trifecta for UW but I don’t want to give away the ranch, not yet anyway. Let’s try to close this transaction “as isâ€Â and see where the other ball bounces if you catch my drift.
God’s speed!!
P.S.: Thanks for all the great memories Pat; the legendary “Great For The Program Losses”, preseason hype, creative and even entertaining excuses, time travel to the next years guaranteed success, and especially the money you saved me by not buying red seats or giving donations to the program because of your attitude over the past 10 years. My wife loves the new vacation beach house. Do I sound happy? My greatest fear is that the odds are 61 to 10 against him landing this or anyother job.

thansk RICH you just summed up what I was trying to make clear to CHARLES W. Chip…
apparently PAT HILL is worthy of staying where he is cause he took a marketing concept,
applied it to a letter of the alphabet, slapped a color on it that signifies the valley, and used it to raise money for the bulldogs. sadly he took a letter from a word that hes incapable of holding up.
after the sad blowout on the Boise State game, he should look to a GREEN L “LOSER”

Are you kidding? Quit drinking the cool aid. I left the Bulldogs after Hill’s second season and wont be back until he is gone. To keep a head coach this long and pay him six figures plus; without an out right conferance win is absolutely stupid. This guy is highest paid used car slaes man in Division I football. The only thing this guy can do on the field is lick his fu-manchu and “go tri-polar” on the refs. He is emotionally out of control and uncapable of leading a program with class. He reminds me of a junior high soccor coach on Saturday morning.
Even Sweeney out recruited this guy, all day long. The last two years that Dilfer was here 14 guys went into the NFL.
I hope the big money people step up and buy his contract out and get this glorified line coach out of here. If not we will be 5th or 6th in the WAC next year and the stadium will not be attended.
Thanks for reading my opinion. Rich

PLEEEEESE … learn about the significance of image in marketing. More specifically, learn about how studies have shown that small, alternative symbols can be more powerful than large billboards and advertisements made to stand out, which inundate us constantly. Everywhere you look around CSUF, you have Red & Bulldogs. That’s called branding. Any dumba** can copymark or servicemark branding. Alternative symbols to the norm, which have meaning, set things apart from the norm. Not everyone wants to do the same hometown-hoedown, because not everyone is a follower.

I don’t know much about Football, but I like Pat Hill as a coach, overall. Comments about letting go of or replacing Offensive and Defensive Coordinators is probably a better idea than letting go Pat Hill.
If we have a better or more well known coach eyeballing CSUF (in light of a university in Washington eyeballing Pat Hill), maybe it’s a good idea we look that direction if Pat Hill looks like he could jump ship (trading up is good; trading just because is dumb – any business / HR student can tell you this). But as Fixed as Fresno is in its small-town ways, it’s probably a good idea to keep a fixture like Pat Hill (he is well liked overall; we just want to stay stupid things when the team starts loosing on the heels of the Baseball team’s fluke college world series win).
Keep in mind, Pat Hill brought things like the green “V” to the typical Red & Blue of CSUF. What’s funny is that while Fresno seems mostly Republican in leaning, most of our websites have more a “blue” feel (per typical web-standard docs). We Fresnan’s seem a bit confused sometimes (liking asking this obtuse question). The green is good. The yellow of Arts & Humanities is good. Red & Blue (and an ugly yellow web color) is all fine and dandy, but you need flavor, and Pat Hill brought that here with the green “V”.
What’re you going to do? After crap in the Athletics department which has cost us Donors, budgets declining, and the obvious cycles that ALL colleges go through with teams (except private colleges which attract and take away top-notch talent because they can), we have to deal with the hand we’re dealt. Every couple of seasons that means a poor season, or a poor streak. Half the problem with the economy right now is because of people without long-term vision, looking for short-term gains. So get rid of Pat Hill if you like, but keep in mind that the grass IS NOT always greener on the other side (most often it can be dingy yellow until you water it) … so you’re looking at another couple of bad seasons under another Coach until he/she gets with the CSUF program.

It’s about time for that perhaps. A failure to win the conference title has always clouded the Hill tenure. The ‘anyone, anytime, anyplace’ mantra has worn thin. Losing to La Tech and Nevada on consecutive weeks is about all I can handle as a hardcore fan.

I think that the defensive coordinator needs to go. The defense sucks and has sucked for the last couple of seasons. Time for change on the defense. I think the Offense is good, we average about 28 points a game which is good. We just need to stop letting the other team score.
