America’s new president, Barack Obama, gives address
The new elected president of the United States, Barack Obama, gave an address in Chicago, Illinois tonight.
“Because of what we did on this day, on this election, on this defining moment, change has come to America,” Barack said. “…The road ahead will be long, the climb will be steep, we may not get there in one year or in one term, but America I have never been more hopeful that we will get there- we as a people will get there.”
Obama gave appreciation for Senator John McCain and his running-mate Sarah Palin, saying that he also looked forward to working with them.
“In this country we rise or fall as one nation, as one people,” Barack continued in his address. “…The dawn of a new American leadership is at hand.”

McCain applauds Obama in public address
Senator John McCain spoke affirming words about his competitor, and now president, Barack Obama in a public address at a gathering in Phoenix, Ariz.
“Senator Obama has achieved a great thing, I applaud him for it,” McCain said. “…I pledge to him tonight to do all in my power to help him in the challenges we face.”
He further said that whatever the differences between Barack and him, that they were still Americans and there is association that has ever meant more to him than that.

Obama projected president
With 297 electoral votes under his belt and only 270 needed to win, Barack Obama is projected the next president of the United States of America.

Only 63 electoral votes away for an Obama win
33% of national precincts have reported so far, confirming Obama’s large margin. He now has 95 electoral votes as opposed to McCain’s 95.
Polls in battleground states Florida, North Carolin and Virginia have now closed.

Obama’s lead grows
Obama now has 174 electoral votes and 50% of the popular vote while McCain trails with 69 electoral votes and 49% popular vote.
Polls have also closed in the following states:Wyoming, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Alabama, Georgia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and New York.

Obama has the lead early on
With polls closed in Oklahoma, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Maine, Barack Obama has the lead with 77 electoral votes while John McCain has 34.
