The Fresno State volleyball team picked up its first conference victory of the season with a 3-1 win over Louisiana Tech Saturday afternoon in Ruston.
The Bulldogs won by set scores of 25-15, 23-25, 25-14, and 25-21, improving their overall record to 4-7 and 1-1 in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).
Fresno State lost to nationally-ranked New Mexico State Thursday night, but was able to rebound nicely with a big win against the Lady Techsters.
Sophomore Lauren Berger had a career-high 13 kills and a .478 hitting percentage.
In set one, Berger was 6-for-7 in hitting, with Baylee Platt and Kelly Leonardo going 3-for-3. The team hit .355 in the set.
After dropping set two, Fresno State took a commanding 24-11 lead in the third set, with Tairyn Rasmussen picking up a service ace.
Set four was a little closer with the Lady Techsters cutting the Fresno State lead to 5-13, but the Bulldogs would rally to take the set 25-21 to clinch the match.
Platt had a double-double with 14 kills and 12 digs to lead the team. Setter Allanah Munson also had a double-double with 45 assists and 13 digs.
The Bulldogs̢۪ three-game road trip concludes this Thursday at Utah State and their conference home opener is Saturday night against San Jose State.
Saturday̢۪s game begins at 7 p.m. inside the Save Mart Center.
