The release of “PUREâ€Â revives the genre of ATV-, sport- or utililty vehicle-based games, which has not had any real stand-outs on next generation consoles.
Developed by Black Rock Studios and published by Disney Interactive, “PUREâ€Â finds and hits the mark that both die-hard and casual gamers can agree on.
Realistic feel
Overall, the games has a stimulated feel due to the realism of riding the tracks — dirt flying and the rider’s body movements in relation to jumps. An arcade feel is also added to make it well balanced; this is exemplified by outrageous tricks and massive air that real riders can only dream of.
Some features tough to figure
The only real drawbacks, though minor, to the game are the sound and tricks. The music played during the game is licensed songs that simply blend into the background.
The sounds of the bikes stand out more, which in the end is all that should really matter to a racing game.
Also, figuring out how to use the tricks in the game is a little hard when you first start to play. This results in players using many of the same tricks, until they really get the hang of the tricks concepts. After learning the tricks to the tricks, you̢۪ll have an arsenal of about 70 moves to pull off.
A multitude of possibilities
The replay value is high. Each race has 16 riders in total, with 48 different races across seven continents. Players can interact with other players in a 16-person multi-player mode over the internet. Bike customization is also great, with over 100,000 possibly variations in parts.
“PUREâ€Â is in stores now and is available on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and the PC.
