The Collegian is proud to announce its new editorial staff for fall 2008.
Heading next semester̢۪s new staff will be Brandon Santiago as Editor in Chief.
Santiago is a senior mass communication and journalism major with an emphasis in broadcast journalism. This semester he was the features reporter and has been a staff writer and freelance writer for The Collegian for three semesters prior to being hired as staff reporter.
Senior Kelly Lucus will be joining the staff next semester as News Editor.
Lucus is also a mass communication and journalism major with an emphasis in print journalism. She has been a staff writer for The Collegian for one semester and was an editorial intern at Fresno Magazine for four months in fall of 2007.
Returning next semester as Sports Editor will be junior Jimmy Graben.
Graben is a mass communication and journalism with an emphasis in broadcast journalism. The upcoming fall semester will mark Graben̢۪s third time being sports editor.
Joining Graben will be Co-Sports Editor Logan Hopkins.
Hopkins runs his own podcast for Red Wave, centering on Fresno State sports and is thinking of incorporating a podcast for The Collegian Online. Hopkins is a junior mass communication and journalism major with an emphasis in broadcast journalism and has been a freelance reporter for The Collegian for one semester.
Opinion Editor Mathew Gomes is also returning.
Next fall will be Gomes̢۪ fourth semester as opinion editor. He is currently a senior double majoring in music composition and English. He has also been an opinion columnist in the past.
Taking over for features, is senior Brad McRae as the new Features Editor.
McRae is a mass communication and journalism major with an emphasis in broadcast journalism. McRae has served as reporter and producer for Fresno State Focus and is a former radio DJ. He hopes to bring more of the unseen to the features page by highlighting such things as Fresno̢۪s underground music scene.
The new photo editor will be senior Ryan Tubongbanua.
Tubongbanua is also a mass communication and journalism major with an emphasis in digital media. He has been photo editor once before in 2006 and has since taken photos for several community and university events.
Senior Heather Billings is returning for a second semester as Webmaster and Multimedia Editor for The Collegian Online.
Billings was previously Assistant Webmaster before being promoted to webmaster this semester. She is a mass communication and journalism major with an emphasis in digital media.
Additional staff appointments and position announcements will be made early next fall.
