The Fresno State softball team swept UC Santa Barbara Tuesday to improve to 37-7 on the season.
Morgan Melloh was the only pitcher needed as she threw two complete games to win her team-leading 26th game.
In the first game, Fresno State got out to a 3-0 lead early. UC Santa Barbara never got within three runs of the Bulldogs as Fresno State won, 5-2.
Melloh ended game one with seven strikeouts and also had two hits and two runs.
In game two, the Bulldogs got off to another lead, going up 6-0 before UC Santa Barbara scored a run. The Gauchos got within one run at the end of the fifth inning, but Fresno State answered back in the sixth with two runs. Fresno State won, 9-5.
Second baseman Jenna Cervantez went 4 for 4 for the Bulldogs, with three runs and four RBI.
Cervantes, Haley Gilleland and Caitlin Stiglich all hit home runs for Fresno State.
Melloh struck out 12 batters in game two.
Fresno State continues the road trip with a three-game series against Western Athletic Conference (WAC) opponent Louisiana Tech on April 11 and 12.
Fresno State is currently ranked No. 12 in the USA Today Collegiate Top 25.
