The Fresno State baseball team̢۪s hot streak hit a roadblock Wednesday afternoon in Berkeley.
The Bulldogs dropped a close one, 5-4, to No. 7 Cal at Evans Diamond. Fresno State̢۪s record is now 16-14 overall. Cal improved its record to 19-6-1.
Justin Wilson (2-4) started on the mound for the Bulldogs and picked up the loss. He pitched six innings and struck out three batters.
The Golden Bears got all of the offense they would need in the bottom of the sixth inning off of Wilson. Rightfielder Blake Smith hit a grand slam to knock in four runs and put the Bears up 5-0.
Fresno State answered back in the top of seventh with four runs and four hits to cut the deficit to 5-4.
After singles from Ryan Overland and Tom Mendonca, sophomore Steve Detwiler knocked in Overland with a double.
A couple of errors by the Golden Bears led to two more runs for Fresno State in the inning.
Fresno State has a week off until they face Cal Poly next Tuesday in San Luis Obispo at 6 p.m.

Ahmady was named Western Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week on Monday and was honored as National Offensive Player of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
On Thursday, the sophomore received another accolade.

Sandell back
Senior shortstop Todd Sandell said he may remain a member of the team.

Batesole was not available for comment, but said after Sunday̢۪s game that Sandell quit of his own accord and was not dismissed from the team.
