Track
The Fresno State track and field team gave some of the best performances of the year at the Stanford Invite on Saturday.
The women̢۪s team left with 11 top-10 finishes in their events. Sharon Ayala earned a silver in the hammer throw while in the 100m hurdles, Krystina Jackson placed second with a time of 14.22.
Erica McCoy had a personal best of 62.67 in the 400m hurdles putting her in sixth place. Marina Santana and Roxanne Sellick each set personal bests in the 800m run.
For the men, Andrew Pancotti earned a bronze in the pole vault, while Gary Lee placed third in the long jump.
On April 10, the team will travel to Los Angeles for the three-day UCLA Invitational.
Football
The Bulldogs are picking up right where they left off last season, which may be a bad thing.
After a 2007 season that saw 23 players miss action, the injury bug is back haunting Fresno State.
Defensive end Kenny Borg will miss the entire 2008 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
Borg suffered the injury during a drill at practice on March 28.
Coach Pat Hill said Borg will undergo surgery today.
Borg is the second casualty to the defensive line this offseason.
Defensive end Jason Roberts, who broke his leg at Oregon last season, will never be able to play football again because of his injury.
Despite the injuries, Hill said Saturday̢۪s scrimmage went well.
The Bulldogs ran almost 40 plays during the scrimmage, with many younger players seeing action.
The annual Spring Football Game is scheduled for Saturday, April 19 at Bulldog Stadium.
