The University Police Department tested a new campus notification system on Wednesday, as university police officials look into new ways of alerting the campus in times of crisis.
“We feel comfortable with what we have to notify the campus, but we are always looking into new technology,â€Â said Amy Armstrong, the University Police Department’s Public Information Officer.
The demonstration took place on Barstow Avenue in front of the University Police station and was given by Cooper Notification.
Chelsea Provchy, a sophomore physical therapy student, said, “I heard the sound when I was getting out of my car.â€Â She was parked in Lot E, south of the Henry Madden Library.
The university police have not committed to purchasing the new system yet.
