Fresno State has decided to join the very first National Wear Red Day on Friday, Feb. 1, promoting awareness and prevention of coronary heart disease and stroke among women.
“We will be accepting donations on behalf of the American Heart Association,â€Â said Amy Armstrong, marketing coordinator of the Staff Assembly Executive Committee. The committee, which organizes Fresno State’s monthly Red Friday events, is teaming up with the Go Red for Women movement to honor survivors of heart disease.
Heart disease is the number one killer of women, according to the American Heart Association.
“Red Fridays are a chance for staff to come together and mingle,â€Â Armstrong said of the monthly event, which different departments sponsor, providing refreshments and raffling off prizes.
The event will be held in the USU Pavilion from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and is being hosted by Student Affairs Federal Programs, and sponsored by the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs and Division of Student Affairs.
