Faculty and staff can now broaden their technological horizons through the Digital Campus Department̢۪s Brown Bag Sessions.
“What they are is short, one-hour seminars that focus on technology and are aimed to meet the needs of faculty and staff,â€Â said Mary Bennett of the Digital Campus Department. “We hold them twice a month on Wednesdays.â€Â
Topics range from “Podcastingâ€Â to “The Pros and Cons of Wikipediaâ€Â to the enticing “Free Stuffâ€Â, which explores how the use of Internet freebies can enhance teaching techniques.
All sessions are held Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m. in UC 202, and not only impart valuable information, but can also give access to countless training opportunities, as Thursday̢۪s one-hour web conference demonstrated.
Entitled “Applying Fair Use in Higher Education: Clearing Up the Confusionâ€Â, this session provided faculty and staff with information on making Fair Use decisions, as well as covering practices for applying these laws to digital media.
Here are some of the seminars being offered this semester:
2/20: The Pros and Cons of Wikipedia
4/9: Free Stuff!
4/23: Podcasting
5/2: 60 Seconds Lectures in the Free Speech Area
