For me, the biggest hassle of a new semester is dealing with schedule changes – specifically, forgetting what my new schedule is.
I thought this problem would diminish over time, but instead, it has gotten worse as my mind clings to bits of information from previous years. And the confusion over my schedule messes up other areas of my memory. I cannot get through a semester now without something like this happening:
“Are you free at noon?” asks a friend.
“No, I’ve got class,” I say. “Wait, no, that was two semesters ago.” Actually, I don’t remember.
“In that case, how about 3:30?”
“I think I may have workouts then, but I can’t remember.” Usually at this point, I’m digging frantically in my bag for my planner.
“How about you call me when you figure it out?” says the friend, who is now late for his own class.
“What’s your number again?”
This year promises plenty of other changes, like completion of the new library and reopening of Chestnut. Personally, I wish the library had been completed before I was ready to graduate, and I̢۪m certainly not looking forward to it being a billboard for a casino. But the campus as an advertising platform is another issue for another blog.
The Collegian Online has changed a little, too. Those of you familiar with our blog section will notice that it̢۪s now divided into categories. We wanted to allow readers to access blogs of interest without wading through all blog posts. We hope that by having categories, our Web site will stimulate ideas for new and different content.
Our blog editor̢۪s goal is to have new blogs up nearly daily so there will always be fresh material on the site. Though he̢۪s been a prolific writer at The Collegian, even he would be hard-pressed to blog on such a schedule. As a result, you̢۪ll likely see a greater variety of names, including editors and reporters, contributing to the section.
Maybe next year we̢۪ll add a scheduling feature for people who can̢۪t remember when their classes are.

I’ve never heard of a construction project of any sort finishing on time, or under budget.
