Thumbs up to the Bulldogs for their victory over the Utah State Aggies. We̢۪re glad the ̢۪Dogs are winning games they̢۪re supposed to win, especially after the hard loss the team suffered to the Boise State Broncos last weekend. We hope this win helps prepare the team for a tough game next weekend against the Hawaii Warriors.
Thumbs down to identity theft. Apparently, social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook are a source for obtaining information about potential targets for the crime. This is scary. After hearing this, most of the editorial staff of The Collegian has decided we will not be changing around our Top 8 lists any time soon.
Thumbs up to the 10th anniversary of the Fresno State Winery, which was celebrated on Saturday. In its 10 years, the winery has won 87 awards and is the only commercial winery operating out of a university campus in the United States, according to the winery̢۪s Web site. We say cheers to that and cheers to 10 years of improved tailgating.
Thumbs down to fog, which reports identified as one of the major contributors to a pileup on Hwy 99 yesterday involving 108 vehicles, one of the worst accidents in the history of the highway. November marks the traditional first appearance of the Valley’s notoriously dangerous fog — it’s a shame that one of the first fog-related accidents of the year had to be of this magnitude. We hope students will take this as a reminder — it’s worth showing up a few minutes late to a midterm if it means not endangering yourself and those around you.
Thumbs up to the end of Daylight Savings Time and with it, the opportunity for an extra hour of sleep. No, it̢۪s not quite enough to make up for all the sleep we̢۪ve missed since the start of the new semester, but until Veteran̢۪s Day next week and the Thanksgiving break the week after, it̢۪s the best we̢۪ll get. We̢۪ll take it.
