The public relations folks in charge of the aptly titled “Bee Movieâ€Â sent us folks over at The Collegian information regarding its star.
We have a chance to interview Jerry Seinfeld, the press release said. Naturally, junkets were to be over in nearby Texas.
Obviously, we at The Collegian aren̢۪t quite able to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
If nothing else, we get this sort of thing all the time. Usually, it̢۪s with actors or musical artists hoping for their big break, not former successes whose career hit a high note back when The Simpsons was funny.
Nonetheless, one or two of us around the newsroom tossed around smart-aleck questions for the interview we̢۪d never attend. Unsurprisingly, most of them were to the horror of Features Editor Megan Reilly, who would normally be in charge of arranging these things.
Mr. Seinfeld, could you describe what it̢۪s like to only now catch on to the latest celebrity fad, namely voice acting in a computer-animated children̢۪s movie?
Since your sitcom ended, would you say your career has fallen to a mediocre sort of hiatus? Isn̢۪t that just like saying it̢۪s been getting worse?
Superman Returns sucked, and Batman Begins ruled. What do you think? By how much is Brandon Routh a worse actor than Michael Douglas? Isn̢۪t Christian Bale better than both of them, anyway?
Did playing a neurotic, self-obsessed primetime screenwriter on television come to you naturally? To what extent did you draw on your own life?
What̢۪s it like working with a racist?
A small part of me hopes he or someone close to him reads this. The much larger part of me doesn̢۪t care.

Seinfeld’s funny, but I can’t take him in large doses. Something about his style, I guess.

He might be a dork, but people who don’t think Seinfeld is funny have problems.
