Thumbs up to Nick Watney, the Fresno State alumnus who won his first PGA tournament — the Zurich Classic of New Orleans — last weekend. His prize? Close to $1.1 million, or close to a month’s worth of gasoline.

Thumbs down to Alec Baldwin for the message he left on his daughter’s phone, calling her a “rude, thoughtless little pig.” The message probably should have stayed private, but still — no child needs to hear that.

Thumbs down to end-of-the-semester workload. Several forests worth of essays are due this week in this office alone.
