Despite rainy forecasts, the Fresno State women̢۪s tennis team went out of its way to treat the University of Pacific to a free tennis clinic at the Wathen Tennis Center on Saturday.
In the last regular season match, the No. 16 Bulldogs swept all three doubles matches to capture the doubles point and used an overpowering onslaught of singles talent to defeat the Tigers 7-0.
Fresno State was virtually unchallenged in singles play, winning all six contests in straight sets.
Sophomore Melanie Gloria, ranked No. 3 nationally, led the way defeating Vana Mrazovic 6-1, 6-3.
Jacqueline Haskett posted a double bagel without the cream cheese as she dominated Sasha Fisher 6-0, 6-0.
Sophomore Bruna Paes sealed the Bulldogs̢۪ sweep with a remarkable second set rally.
After winning the first set, Paes battled back from a 4-2 deficit in the second to defeat Clara Schuhmacher 6-4, 6-4.
The win improved Fresno State̢۪s record to 17-3 overall and 12-0 at home as the team prepares for next week̢۪s WAC Championships in Boise, Idaho. Fresno State has won five straight WAC titles.
