Fresno State men’s golf head coach Mike Watney describes his team as young, but “getting better everyday.�
The young team came in fifth at Tuesday̢۪s Fresno State Lexus Classic at the Sunnyside Country Club.
The Fresno State leader was Matt Ryan (73-71-72 — 216) who finished in 11th place with an even par. Four of the six Bulldogs shot 72 to produce 288 for their third round total.
“I’m proud of our team, we made a nice comeback today,� Ryan said.
San Diego State took the team title with a one stroke victory over UC Irvine. Nevada and Hawaii finished third and fourth, respectively.
Fresno State’s Matt Shaw tied for 23rd (73-73-74 — 209) and Brad Wyatt tied for 29th.
The Bulldogs hit the road to play in Santa Cruz for the Western Collegiate March 19-20.
