If it wasn̢۪t for the final score, it would̢۪ve been hard to believe the Fresno State men̢۪s basketball team lost its opening round game of the National Invitation Tournament.
With an 88-78 loss at the hands of the Georgia Bulldogs, Fresno State’s first postseason berth since the 2001-02 season — when Jerry Tarkanian was at the helm — was ended.
Fresno State came out of the gates cold, but rebounded with a barrage of 3-point shots, converting 9-of-19 in the first half. For the game, Fresno State connected on a school-record 18-of-40 3-pointers, with Eddie Miller and Hector Hernandez hitting on seven each.
But Georgia̢۪s offense would prove to be even better, as the Levi Stukes led Bulldogs shot 52.4 percent for the game. Stukes alone scored 30 points for Georgia, and connected on 8-of-9 3-pointers.
At one point in the game, Fresno State̢۪s deficit to Georgia increased to 20 points, but Fresno State once again shot themselves back into the game with the 3-point shot.
For the Bulldogs, Kevin Bell and Eddie Miller each logged 40 minutes.
