Fresno State senior thrower Katie Richardson̢۪s stellar performance at the Cal Poly Invitational last weekend earned her the Western Athletic Conference Women̢۪s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week award.
Richardson finished first in the hammer, javelin and discus competitions. She posted a career-best toss of 49.63 meters in the hammer throw and her 49.08-meter javelin and 50.52-meter discus throws were both season highs.
Richardson̢۪s discus and javelin tosses were impressive because both exceeded the NCAA regional qualifying marks.
Richardson finished first in the discus at both the WAC Championships and the Cal-Nevada Championships last season.
Richardson and her Fresno State teammates will continue their outdoor track and field season this weekend when the Bulldogs host Cal State Bakersfield, Mt. San Antonio College and Sacramento City College in a four-way dual meet at Warmerdam Field on Saturday.
With only five home matches remaining this season, the Fresno State men̢۪s tennis team will return home this weekend for two matches.
A change in scheduling could confuse Fresno State fans anticipating the weekend matches at the Wathen Tennis Center.
Originally scheduled as a Saturday doubleheader, the Bulldogs will now host Cornell on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Saint Mary̢۪s on Sunday at 2 p.m.
