Blackboard shuts down for database upgrade

Staff Reports
The Collegian

Fresno State’s Blackboard was scheduled to be down Thursday night for a database upgrade and to fix recent performance problems, according to Digital Campus officials.

Brent Auernheimer, director of Digital Campus, said the “least worst time” for Blackboard maintenance was overnight Thursday.

The upgrade was planned to start Thursday at 10 p.m. and was set to be up and running again at 7 a.m. Friday morning.

Some Blackboard users have experienced problems with pages loading slowly, primarily in discussion forums.

Auernheimer said a helpful tip for those using Blackboard is to use a Web browser other than the latest version of Internet Explorer because Internet Explorer 7 and Blackboard “are not getting along right now.”

Auernheimer said even after the upgrade has taken place, students and faculty should still try to avoid using Internet Explorer 7 when on the Blackboard site.
