McGuire earns WAC award

Dominic McGuire took the Western Athletic Conference by storm, being named men’s basketball player of the week.


McGuire was named MVP of last weekend’s Basketball Travelers at Fresno State Invitational.


Fresno State took all three of its games with an average 21-point lead over its opponents. The Bulldogs’ wins included one over South Alabama, a 2006 NCAA tournament participant.


In the Fresno State domination, McGuire ? of San Diego, Calif. averaged nearly 12 points per game. McGuire shot .522 from the field and was 10-of-12 from the free-throw line. McGuire also had an average 10 rebounds, 3.7 assists and almost five blocks per game.


Fresno State plays at San Francisco tonight and returns home to take on Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Nov. 21.
