Two-thirds vote of senate or decision by Welty will decide fate of AS presidency

A landslide victory for AS presidential candidate Molly Fagundes may not translate into time in office after the AS Election Commission found her guilty of “major” campaign violations. The Thursday night decision came after a week of finger-pointing and allegations of voting malpractice. Elections Commissioner Raylon Madan and another member of the commission said they witnessed students turned away from voting booths during the April 21 and 22 elections. “ There are definitely certain things that shouldn’t have happened,” Madan said.More>>

All work and no play makes Joe a dull boy. Joe Moore, station manager of Fresno State’s radio station, KFSR, disagreed. Moore, who works almost 70 hours a week and has worked for at least one radio station every day for the past 12 months, said his job never gets boring. “ What I like about radio is that every day there is something new,” Moore said. “There is never a day when the same thing happens.”More>>

NCAA board of directors votes to penalize schools that don't graduate athletes, rescinds 5/8

Calling it “a sea change in college sports,” NCAA President Myles Brand heralded a new set of academic reforms voted in Thursday by the Division I Board of Directors—reforms that would penalize schools that don’t keep athletes eligible and fail to graduate them. The board also rescinded the controversial 5/8 rule for basketball, effective immediately. Put in place to prevent coaches from running players off, the rule said programs could sign no more than five recruits in any one year and no more than eight in any two-year period.More>>

The more you know about John Kerry, the more you have to wonder: What’s at this man’s core? And what, for heaven’s sake, were Democrats thinking to pick him as the best man to go up against President George W. Bush? To say that Kerry is too liberal for most Americans misses a greater handicap in his campaign to beat Bush. Kerry’s not only in denial about his liberal voting record, he nuances most every issue to his peril. He’s trying to win over as many undecided voters as possible, of course.
