AS candidates square off in debate the day before student body elections

To whet the campus’ appetite for today’s Associated Students elections, four of the six executive office candidates debated in the free speech area Tuesday. AS elections begin today and continue tomorrow with three-person races for both president and vice president of finance, and 26 candidates vying for 15 senatorial positions. Vice president of finance candidates Jennifer Reimer and Chris Rusca, both current members of AS, spoke first. Candidate Mason Morin, chapter president of Sigma Nu, was not present.More>>

 

Health Fair sets up shop at dining hall

Students who go to the Residence Dining Hall today won’t find the usual tables and hear chatter among students eating their lunches. Instead, they will hear about things such as the proper use of backpacks, over the counter pain medications, skin cancer and alcohol abuse, among other health-related topics. The annual Health Fair, which will focus on student lifestyles, will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the RDH and will feature more than 25 booths on health related issues.More>>

 

Campus counseling available for victims of rape

It was just another weekend for these three buddies. They were on their way back from Magic Mountain after a fun-filled day. The car was rolling, the music rocking…but something was different. This time–not everybody was having fun. One of them, a 17-year-old, was being raped in the backseat of the car by a friend while the other friend was driving. Many teenagers and young women find themselves in similar situations.More>>

 

Philosophy and religion meet in the mountains

Students will have the chance to enjoy the beauty of Yosemite while learning about philosophical and religious ideas on what it means to live a good life during the philosophy department’s Living Well retreat at the Tenaya Lodge on April 25. The keynote speaker at the event will be Amy Hollywood, a professor of theology and the history of Christianity at The Divinity School.More>>
